The Painting of Period Properties

For me period properties have a certain unique charm and a warmth of character that we just don't see in today's modern properties. From the ornate skirting boards and architraves to the fire surrounds and stone window sills or the lovely Georgian sash windows, each area of the house has detail that we don't see on most newer properties. The problem with this is, that unlike the modern house, the period properties need more upkeep, especially if you are in a conservation areas or if you have a listed building. We are often asked to paint, lovely old houses that have seen better days and for us, making that old house look as near as we can, like it was when it was built is so satisfying. Simply replacing a rotten window sill up to getting a sash window working again or replacing some old spalled bricks or a little lime mortar pointing are all part of what we do to help bring an old house back to it's original character.
